BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2014204612 DESCRIPTION The authors report a case of an 11-year-old boy with a congenital lesion on the left leg, initially described as a blue macule which progressed to a verrucous pigmented plaque (figure 1). MRI (figure 2) showed local infiltration of the lower dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Histopathological examination (figure 3) showed hyperkeratosis, irregular acanthosis, papillomatosis and vascular proliferation in the superficial dermis, deep dermis and subcutaneous fat tissue compatible with a verrucous haemangioma (VH). VH is a rare congenital vascular anomaly. The International Society for the study of vascular anomalies classifies vascular anomalies as vascular neoplasms or vascular malformations. In verrucous haemangiomas, categorisation as a neoplasm or malformation cannot be established definitely. Its classification is still unclear because it exhibits clinical features similar to those seen in vascular malformations, but expresses an immunoprofile similar to vascular neoplasms (WT1 and Glut-1 positivity).

Linear verrucous haemangioma on the abdomen.
Sir, Verrucous haemangioma (VH) is a rare, congenital and localized vascular malformation that appears at birth or in early childhood with a predilection for the lower extremities (1). It later becomes verruciform and tends to enlarge and spread peripherally. The linear form of VH is extremely rare and only a few case reports have been presented in the literature (2 – 4). We describe a linear V...
متن کاملVerrucous porokeratosis: A case report
Porokeratoses are uncommon hereditary or acquired keratinization disorders due to abnormal clones of keratinocytes in the epidermis. Porokeratoses have several clinical features which may occur simultaneously. A rare type is verrucous porokeratosis (VPK). Herein, we present a 47-year-old man with a 4-year history of perianal verrucous lesions and one year history of annular pruritic lesions on ...
متن کاملCutaneous Verrucous Carcinoma Superimposed on Chronically Inflamed Ileostomy Site Skin: A Case Report
Verrucous carcinoma (VC) is a rare variant of well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) which is usually found in oral cavity mucosa. Cutaneous verrucous carcinoma is a rare entity and in this paper we report a 43 years old man with VC superimposed on chronically inflamed skin of ileostomy site. Previously, he was operated to treat rectal adenocarcinoma and has had ileostomy for six mon...
متن کاملCentral haemangioma: variance in radiographic appearance.
Central haemangioma, a "great mimicker" which, fortunately, is a relatively rare condition, may pose a lethal risk for the patient. The diagnosis may become apparent only during biopsy or tooth extraction, which poses a risk of lethal exsanguination; therefore a correct diagnosis is desirable before any biopsy is undertaken. The clinician may not anticipate the severe haemorrhage because of vag...
متن کاملOral Verrucous Carcinoma and Ameloblastoma: A Rare Coincidence
Introduction: Oral verrucous carcinoma (OVC) is a rare malignancy of the oral cavity that was first described by Ackerman. This tumor is a well-differentiated low-grade, slow growing cancer that is locally invasive without metastasis. Ameloblastoma is one of the most common odontogenic tumors, which originates from the odontogenic epithelium. Verrucous carcinoma along with central ambloblastoma...
